Edtech Entrepreneurship and Internship - EDCT-GE 2116 open to NYU masters students interested in entrepreneurship and educational technology.
The course will run concurrently with the NYU Edtech Accelerator (www.StartedAccelerator.com) and conclude at the NY Edtech Week festival (www.NYEdtechWeek.com) hosted at NYU. Students will be paired with Edtech companies for an apprenticeship. Students will hear from guest experts including startup founders, education leaders, policy-makers and funders. Students will also have opportunities to explore in-depth case studies and gain an understanding of the opportunities and challenges of the educational marketplace from early learning to lifelong learning.
This course is designed for students in various programs of study who are interested in education technology or entrepreneurship. The course will use a rigorous case methodology combined with an Edtech startup apprenticeship.
Students will gain a general understanding of the problems facing learners from birth to retirement. Students will be asked to examine the size and scope of such problems and to critically review products, companies, NGOs, and government solutions.
The focus of the course will be using the start-up enterprise to create marketable, sustainable solutions to learning problems. Students will learn from guest experts in the field including CEOs, policymakers, and funders.
